Household Tax Ireland

While the majority of the country are rightly against paying the Irish household tax a number of people have paid and are in the process of doing so. The easiest way of registering is online at Householdcharge.ie or if you don’t have access to a computer you can get registration forms from your  local authority.

The most significant thing to note is that no bills will be issued, your’e expected to register for the charge yourself. But who has to pay the Irish household tax? Everyone including;

  • Pensioners
  • lone parents
  • People with a disability
  • The unemployed

The only people exempt from paying the Irish household tax are people getting  a mortgage interest supplement. Something else to note is that if you have put your house up for sale and it has not been sold as of January 1st 2012 you are liable to pay.
